1. Data controller
Craon S.r.l. – Via Bice Cremagnani, 16 – 20871 Vimercate (MB), Italy
VAT / Tax no. IT02820820963 – Email: info@craon.it – Tel. +39 039 6612489
2. Scope
This policy covers the NextStop Highway app for iPhone and Android (“the app”). The website www.craon.it has its own privacy policy.
3. What data the app uses and why
| Data | Purpose | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Phone location (GPS, heading, speed) | To work out which motorway you are on and in which direction, so the app can show the next service areas and give you the voice alert. | Stays on the phone. It is processed only by the app, never sent to Craon or anyone else and never stored. |
| IP address and technical connection data | To download motorway data updates from Craon’s server. | Received by the server, as with any download. We don’t use them to identify you. |
| A city name (only if you type one in the simulation) and IP address | To find the coordinates of the starting point of a simulated trip. | Sent to the Nominatim search service of the OpenStreetMap Foundation (see section 6). |
| Preferences (language, voice alerts) and motorway data | To let the app work offline. | Stay on the phone and are deleted when you uninstall the app. |
4. Location and background use
The app asks for permission to access your location, which you can refuse or revoke at any time in the phone settings (without location the app cannot show the service areas on your route). On iPhone, during a trip, the app may keep receiving the location with the screen off so that the voice alert arrives on time; iOS shows this with the location indicator. In the background, too, the location stays on the phone.
5. Legal basis and retention
The only data that reach Craon’s systems are the technical data needed for the download (IP address, date and time of the request). They are processed on the basis of Craon’s legitimate interest in providing the service and protecting it from abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and kept in the server logs only for as long as needed for these purposes.
6. Third-party services
Only if you type a city name in the simulation feature does the app send that name (or, to show the name of the place, the coordinates of the simulated point) to Nominatim, the search service run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation, which also receives the phone’s IP address. These data are covered by the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy. Your real GPS location is never sent.
The app contains no advertising, analytics, tracking or profiling tools, and no social network SDKs. We don’t sell or share data with third parties.
7. Children
The app is meant for people travelling on motorways and is not aimed at children under 14. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Your rights
The only data we keep are the IP addresses in the server logs (section 5), which we don’t link to any person. You can still ask to access them, to have them deleted or to object to their processing (Arts. 15–22 GDPR) by writing to info@craon.it, and you can lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) or with the authority of your country.
9. Changes
If the app changes the way it uses data we will update this page and the date at the top. We will also mention important changes in the app’s release notes.
